Senior FIX Protocol Engineer Consultant
Location: This is a Remote Role, but we are targeting candidates in the NY/NJ area who can commute to our NYC office a few times per month, if needed.
We are searching for someone with expertise in the FIX protocol itself. Need to have experience in designing a FIX message interaction and customizing a FIX data dictionary. Having just worked with applications that happen to use FIX pipes is not what we need.
What You’ll be Doing:
Design best-practice FIX messaging protocol to support the unique workflow needs.
• Build and enhance internal FIX software tools to improve internal teams' ability to analyze and troubleshoot FIX communications.
• Build full-stack enterprise/commercial-grade applications, focusing on designing and implementing FIX APIs and message flows which can integrate with modern microservicebased architecture.
• Support applications with an understanding of system integration, test planning, scripting, and troubleshooting.?
• Analyze program and application performance using various programming languages, tools, and techniques.
• Work in a high-performing and agile environment and be comfortable operating both independently and collaboratively.
• Govern personal goals against business milestones and propose architectural designs and development practices where necessary.
• Be the resident expert in the FIX protocol - Create internal and external facing documentation, mentor other team members and lead all FIX discussions with connecting sell-side and buy-side firms.
What We are Looking for:
• 7+ years of experience in technology preferably on the buy-side, sell-side, or with a trading vendor.
• 7+ years of FIX Protocol development experience.
• Experience in designing API architecture design, including security, performance tracking, throttling, caching, logging, event-driven messaging pattern, etc.
• Proficiency in building deploying and operating microservices.
• Experience in a statically typed OO language, e.g. Java, .NET, Kotlin.
• Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby etc.
• Microservices architecture and development.
• Public cloud technologies and their services (Amazon AWS preferred)
