Principal Java Software Engineer 100% Remote 6-month contract-to-hire
Position Overview: We are looking for a Principal Engineer who is passionate about solving real world business problems to join the Product Engineering team with one of our clients in the healthcare space. As a Principal Engineer, you will be working on their products from top to bottom while creating and enhancing capabilities in various modules. You will handle performance tuning, address customer issues, and will be a chief problem solver. In this role, you will be a key member of the team involved with design discussions, coding on the backend, and working heavily with the database and J2EE.
Your Impact: You will be an experienced Java developer with background in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and enterprise application integration (EAI) concepts and development. You will be involved in all phases of software development including requirements definition, design, architecture, development, testing, and deployment to bring cutting edge technologies to market.
Develop next generation cloud native microservice architecture based on best practices
Translate designs and requirements into high quality robust code
Evangelize the system design principles and practices
Be a mentor, advisor, coach to other team members
What You Bring:
A minimum of 7 years of related experience in a commercial software development role
BS/MS Computer Science or equivalent
Hands-on development experience using Java, J2EE, XML, SOAP, REST and SQL
Experience in writing and understand quality database queries or Stored Procedures that are reliable, scalable and reusable
Experience in OOPS concepts and design patterns
Experience with Oracle or similar enterprise class RDBMS
Experience with Big data technologies such as Kakfa, Elastic Search, No SQL DB, Hadoop, Parque, Scoop etc.
Experience with Cloud technologies like AWS, Kubernetes, Docker
Familiarity with micro services architecture and REST based WebServices
Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, CI-CD pipelines and tools (Maven/Gradle, Ansible etc.)
Experience with test frameworks like Junit/TestNG etc.
Experience with applications servers (ex. Weblogic), containers and Spring Framework
Experience with performance optimization and troubleshooting
Familiarity with Linux and shell or other Unix scripting languages
Experience in the full software development lifecycle using an Agile development process
