Syrinx Consulting 100% Remote 4-month contract with extensions PostgreSQL DBA
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain PostgreSQL database servers in AWS RDS (Aurora)
Design and implement redundancy and HA strategies including read replicas
Conduct performance tuning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tasks
Design and implement backup/restoration strategies per data retention requirements
Diagnose and resolve production issues
Maintain database security and auditability
Provide insight to team leadership regarding best practices for PostgreSQL and mentor team members to develop talent
Requirements & Qualifications:
5 years working as a database administrator working with PostgreSQL
Expert level SQL, PL/pgSQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
Expert level Postgres troubleshooting skills including identifying & resolving blocking, long running queries and other events that negatively impact the database
Knowledge of database design principles, query optimization, index management, integrity checks, statistics and isolation levels
Working knowledge of AWS RDS/Aurora
Desirable to have experience migrating/rewriting views, stored procedures, functions from MSSQL to PostgreSQL.
Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience managing other database platforms MSSQL, DB2, MongoDB etc.. is a plus
