Senior UX Designer

Boston, MA

Responsibilities:

Research: 
•    Lead and/or partner on research activities that translate insights into actionable strategies and validated designs, both generative and evaluative. 
•    Conduct heuristic analysis of existing designs and provide actionable deliverables to enhance the usability of our product. 
•    Facilitate generative and evaluative studies that inform our product roadmap and ensure designs meet both user needs and business objectives. 
•    Generate research artifacts including study guides and prototypes, both high and low fidelity.  

 

Design (Strategy and Execution): 
•    Synthesize brand, user, and business needs into innovative, functional, creative, and measurable design solutions.
•    Build a firm understanding of our core user base and the challenges they face along the customer journey. Consolidate complex concepts into easy-to-understand designs for a global audience with varying degrees of product and domain knowledge. 
•    Communicate and overcome challenges around localization when designing for a global audience. 
•    Produce User Flows, UI Specs, Information Architectures, Taxonomies, Storyboards, Design Standards, and other relevant UX artifacts. 

 

Operations: 
•    Work collaboratively with product, engineering, brand, and other members of our growing Product and Design team. Help facilitate working design sessions. 
•    Participate in internal weekly design checkpoints and external bi-weekly leadership presentations. 
•    Work closely with design leadership and domain peers to ensure integrations are seamless from a user perspective. Contribute to and actively update our style guide library. 
•    Participate and/or lead bi-weekly design system meetings. 
•    Stay current on accessibility and designing for inclusion standards and trends. 

80% Execution / 20% Research & Strategy – this will shift as team grows and you evolve in your role.  

 

Requirements:

•    5-7 years as a Product or UX Designer. 
•    Bachelor's degree in UX/UI design, human-computer interaction (HCI), product design, graphic design or related degree.
•    Portfolio of online work solving customer problems and business objectives. 
•    Thorough understanding of user-centered design processes with deep expertise in interaction design, user interface design, research, processes, tools, and overall best practices.
•    Firm understanding of both growing and mature UX team structures that can flex as we evolve. 

•    Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe CS, and willingness to learn other tools as they emerge. 

•    Experience creating and updating design systems or UI kits in either FIGMA or Sketch. 
•    Knowledge of defining guidelines and applying accessibility standards to component-based designs


Nice to haves:

•    Experience working on in-vehicle clusters, mobile applications, or e-commerce. 
•    Experience with AR, VR, and 3D modeling.
•    Service Design experience.
