Director, Technical Project Management

The Director, Technical Product Manager must be a results-oriented leader with a passion and capability for creating high-quality learning solutions, on-time, on-scope and on-quality. As a senior product leader within the Digital Platform Group, the Director must exemplify best practices in their craft, serving as a voice for customer-empathetic software, promoting teamwork and knowledge sharing, and driving collaboration with customers and stakeholders across multiple business units.
 
The Director will be responsible for leading the teams responsible for Enterprise Solutions (across all Business Units), with a focus on Integrations/Interoperability, Learning Data & Analytics, and Business Intelligence.  Working in collaboration with Business Unit leaders, the Director will define the product strategy and roadmap for assigned areas of responsibility.

The Director leads multiple teams Agile development teams and are responsible for driving the successful delivery of product and/or platform iterations to the market.  The Director is responsible for leading their team to define, manage, and implement innovative digital products and platform functionalities that are uniquely responsive to market demands and MH priorities. The Director will act as the conscience of the product, prioritizing the needs of customers against available resources to deliver viable solutions that will succeed in the market and improve learning for students, instructors, and institutions.
 
The Director should have a strong technical background and be able to understand implementation details on a technical level.

  • Be the conscience of the product, continuously looking at the product/solutions from the end-user’s perspective and driving the complete experience to the best possible outcome for the end user. Ensure the customer experience is represented as a top priority throughout all stages of development, resulting in user empathetic software.

Product Management
  • Partner with multiple business stakeholders to develop a vision, strategy, and a prioritized roadmap. Resolve ambiguous product requirements to achieve a clear vision that can then be shared and implemented.
  • Develop a shared vision for product(s) through investigation of market demands, user feedback, and competitive analysis.  In partnership with the business unit, gather and prioritize product and customer requirements.
  • Track competitive and technological landscape, keeping abreast of new innovations and developments in the market space.

Development
  • Oversee the care and feeding of the product and/or platform: ensure all aspects of the product and/or platform receive attention, including technical debt, infrastructure, and feature functionality. 
  • Ensure cross team dependencies are identified, understood by all affected teams, and then properly managed. 
  • Work with stakeholders to collect feedback and requests for features, translate those into working requirements for the engineering team, and work with the engineering team to ensure that the delivered product/service is in line with the desired functionality for roadmap milestones.

Evangelism
  • Partner with stakeholders around knowledge transfer and training on new product features. Must work with the sales and marketing team to evangelize and explain the new product/platform to ensure positive impact on revenues and work with ancillary departments across the organization to share the benefits of the release across business units.

Minimum Qualifications/KSA’s
 
  • Bachelor's degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • Product Management: Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and managing techonology products
  • 7-10 + years of experience in leading Agile-based, software product development teams.
  • A background in education or experience in educational technology
  • Relationship Building - Demonstrated history of cultivating strong
  • working partnerships with internal stakedholders (marketing, sales, etc) and technology teams
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching complex SaaS products
  • Demonstrated ability to lead user-centered design processes, with a strong focus on user experience
  • Proven success mentoring, if not managing teams and and driving cultural change; must be able to effectively collaborate with, manage and influence diverse personalities and skill
  • Deadline‐conscious, results‐driven, and high‐performing in a high‐intensity environment
  • Acute attention to detail, ability to analyze complex systems, and expertise at managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Outstanding verbal, written, demo, interpersonal, and organizational communication skills; must be able to communicate with technical leaders and senior business stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, think-on-your-feet business environment
