Product Manager

The Product Manager’s job also includes ensuring that the product line supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.


You possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality and enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. A Product Manager's key role is strategic, not tactical. The role requires strong business acumen, analytical skills, collaborative and cross functional leadership skills.
 
As a Product Manager, you need to be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with product development and service delivery counterparts to define technology and service requirements, and you will work with marketing and sales to define the go-to-market strategy, providing clarity of product definition, positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your products and product offerings, soliciting feedback and providing support to the sales channel and key customers. 


Primary Responsibilities:  
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the overall market including key industry trends, competitive and customer insights
  • Create and maintain product/service definition, positioning and rolling 4-quarter roadmap to illustrate our vision and plan into the future
  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going engagements with customers and non-customers
  • Research and articulate compelling business cases for investment initiatives
  • Working with business analysts, establish and maintain a detailed and appropriately prioritized backlog of actionable user stories based on market problems
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, account management and client success teams in driving growth and customer retention
  • Gather feedback from beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and prototypes to refine products for success
  • Be an expert with respect to the competition
  • Own the price book and pricing strategy for your products
  • Know why we are winning and losing in the market, and drive changes to our product and processes to create improvement
  • Actively contribute to our team's culture of having fun, embracing change, and delivering
  • Act as a leader within the company

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 
  • Strong ability to understand and research technology and business trends, show how these trends impact company roadmaps, and convince the team on the direction we should take our product line
  • Analytical and able to create sound business arguments backed up by data
  • Must work well with others - inspires trust and open communication amongst team members and peers
  • Proven ability to influence at all levels of the organization cross-functionally
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities: must effectively communicate with technical and non-technical people; strong active listening skills
  • Experience with best practice iterative agile development and lean startup principles
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience working with SaaS products and companies is highly beneficial and preferred
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary; general manager / owner mentality and an entrepreneurial drive; demonstrated ability to have fun and inspire team
  • An energetic, resourceful and hands-on individual with a strong bias for action, someone who commits himself/herself fully to stretch goals and who is dedicated to developing and delivering outstanding results
Education and Experience:
  • 3+ years of Product Management experience
  • Computer Science or Engineering degree or work experience a strong plus.
  • Records management industry experience preferred
