Position Overview:
This position has development and maintenance responsibility for the software programs, databases and processes associated with the creation and delivery of a new Business Entity Master platform. The position provides exposure to many several business units in a dynamic investment management firm. The contract software engineer will work closely with other IT team members of varying disciplines and our internal business partners to meet stated objectives. Experience working with modelling and maintaining different investment business entities such as clients, accounts, brokers, and custodians is a plus but not required. The position reports to the technical Team Lead and primary technical architect.
Responsibilities:
- Work on a delivery team to develop, enhance, and support a new cloud-based Business Entity Master application while leveraging technologies such as AWS ECS, DynamoDB and Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Contribute to the design and ongoing maintenance of numerous application components while following development and architecture best practices
- Maintain, enhance, and develop data interfaces and ETL processes, including backward compatibility for on-prem legacy database applications
- Investigate and resolve issues impacting our production environment
- Work collaboratively within IT and various business units across the firm
- Understand business workflows and identify opportunities to advance capabilities, gain efficiencies, reduce risk
- Perform analysis at the code and data level
- Perform story creation and develop acceptance criteria as an agile team member assigned to projects that directly impact the global sales and client service groups.
- Perform support analysis; research, test and track business issues and software defects
- Participate in the weekly managed release cycle
Qualifications:
· B.S. in computer science or related field; 10 years’ experience. Experience in financial services a plus
· Solid knowledge of modern software design principles, concepts, and practices
· Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Technology Stack (e.g. .NET Core, C#);
· Enjoys working with data (data transformations, ETLs, etc.)
· Extensive experience with Relational Databases, ideally Sql Server
· Experience with NoSql databases (preferably DynamoDb)
· Cloud exposure (preferably AWS)
· Experience building and consuming RESTful API’s.
· Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and Test Driven Development
· Experience with client-side JavaScript frameworks (preferably React) a plus but not required
