Sr. Strategy Associate (Ed. Tech)

Description:

We are looking to add a Senior Strategy Associate to the Corporate Strategy team. Our Corporate Strategy team plays a crucial role in driving long-term growth and transformation. Reporting to the Manager of Strategy & Business Development, the Sr. Strategy Associate will contribute their top-notch analytical, proactive management, and structured storytelling skills to a dynamic portfolio of projects over the course of a 6+ month period. In addition to performing market research and competitive analysis, they will also support cross-functional strategic planning, both within our internal business units and with our external partners.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Supports the planning and execution of the corporate strategic planning process
• Builds project deliverables in partnership with project leaders (e.g., preparation of quarterly materials for the Board of Directors)
• Assists Business Units and Functional Areas in executing strategic priorities, special projects, and critical ad hoc analyses
• Solve high-impact problems and develops actionable solutions for the most challenging issues facing the company, with a focus on corporate/global/cross-sector work for the Senior Leadership Team
• Demonstrates strong leadership and influence management skills, including the ability to challenge the status quo
• Serves as the analytics point-person on projects, applying logical and creative thinking to drive to data-driven insights
• Maintains an external mindset, including staying on top of consumer, competitive, and macroeconomic/geopolitical trends

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
• 3+ years of strategy experience, either with an internal corporate strategy team or consulting firm (preference). Or 3+ years of consulting, banking, or corporate strategy and operations experience
• Strategic and highly analytical thinker with sound business judgment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
• Proactive, with the ability to “manage up”
• Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
• Aligned with McGraw Hill’s mission to unlock the potential of every learner
• Bachelor’s Degree is required; MBA preferred
• This role interacts with multiple business units, corporate functions, external partners, and diverse personalities. Most of the complexity comes from working proactively and autonomously to effectively support the wide-ranging, ever-evolving Corporate Strategy portfolio.
