Database Engineer (Python, Hadoop) - W2 Only

4-month contract with extensions
 
Day-to-Day:
  • Creating data repository schema for databases and data warehouses (i.e., specifying the overall database/data warehouse field and data structure based on functional and technical requirements).
  • Developing logical and physical data models.
  • Developing strategies for data acquisition, archive recovery, and database implementation.
  • Managing data migrations/conversions and troubleshooting data processing issues.
  • Provide functional level data analytics in supporting of reporting needs.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degrees in any of these fields: mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science/analytics or similar quantitative field (maters preferred)
  • 3+ years’ experience with data modeling, managing data transfers, ETL Development, and data warehousing
  • Experience with tools/techniques – Python, R, Hadoop, clustering, high availability environments
  • SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Visualization techniques and tools using Tableau, Power BI, or other BI packages.
  • AWS/Azure cloud certified
  • Experience with machine learning and natural language (NLP) processing techniques.
  • Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
 
Responsibilities:
This job family is responsible for the development and execution of policies, practices and procedures in order to manage the information lifecycle needs of an organization in an effective manner and examining the organization’s data reporting needs. Activities include capturing data sources (from requirements), secure data transmission methods, and moving data into data repositories. The role also requires understanding how to format data in data lakes, working with data owners to perform data modeling. Associate-level skills are a benefit for analyzing and interpreting collected data; spotting trends; writing reports and recommendations for internal or external clients; data modeling and creating data architectures
 
SUB-FAMILY DESCRIPTION: Positions in this sub-family are responsible for managing or performing work in the following areas: Database Engineering & Data Modelling: Creating data architectures and logical/physical data models for databases and data warehouses. Data Warehouse Development & Administration: Designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining a data warehouse to integrate data from various sources/systems within an organization. Developing strategies for data acquisition, archive recovery, and database implementation. Managing data migrations/conversions and troubleshooting data processing issues.
