We are partnered with a higher education institution in Cambridge that is hiring for the following role:
Manager of Portfolio Management
Cambridge, MA Essential Functions:
Supports the Director to develop and implement portfolio management processes including:
Project intake, decision making, and prioritization
Development of portfolio structure
Portfolio reporting and decision support (Investment, Resource Utilization, Project Status)
Escalation channels
Project and organization-wide Metrics
Supports resource management and utilization decisions to ensure proposed projects are supported with appropriate resources from both a skills and workload perspective.
Works with the leadership teams to understand available investment resources that help guide project approval decision making and portfolio positioning.
Monitors IT investments and their adherence to established budgets.
Supports time tracking functions across the organization.
Works with project management team to ensure portfolio management standards are adhered to.
Provides portfolio performance information to senior leadership as required, including the definition and measurements of metrics that support decision making.
Measures IS&T Service performance and implements improvements.
Conducts in-depth root-cause analysis, to identify trends and resolve recurring project/portfolio challenges.
Manages portfolio level analysts as appropriate.
Meets regularly with team to gather work statuses and consolidate at a portfolio level.
Ensures that all team members have the tools and training required to perform effectively.
Uses good judgment and creative ideas to improve projects and overall IS&T business.
Uses past experiences to identify potential areas of improvement.
Qualifications & Technical Skills:
Requires 5 or more years of IT Project Management experience.
Requires 2 or more years of IT Portfolio Experience.
Requires experience in supervising, building and maintaining relationships with people at a variety of levels.
Project Management certification or successful completion of a recognized project management curriculum is desired.
Technical, hands on management experience in a high-tech environment.
Experience in the Higher Education environment is desired but not required
Proven skills in managing within a matrix organization.
Experience with portfolio management processes and/or tools a plus.
Manages improvement processes that impact customer satisfaction and relationships.
